Just a Boy ~ Dan Olson
This is the Christmas gift that keeps on giving. I wrote this in 2003, and I don’t write as many songs as, perhaps, I should. But, I hope you enjoy this and the Christmas season at hand.

Just a boy living out in the cold
Brought into this world full of tears
But he wasn’t one much for crying
Though he knew all of our mortal fears
Royalty there was nestled in hay
And his dad knew how he would fall
But the angels called out in that wintry sky
Love had arrived for us all
And his mama said
I know you’re not just my little boy
And I’ll have to share in time
But, tonight is a night of new beginnings
And, tonight, you’re only mine
Just a man living out in the world
Looking for guidance above
Hid daddy called down and he said
This is the son that I love
A few years passed like they always do
And love turned to hate for the son
Daddy, if you can see how to take this from me,
But not mine, let your will be done
And his daddy said
I know you’re not just my little boy
And you’ll be with me here above
But it’s time for hate to have its way
Go show your people true love
Daddy, I’m scared, and I’m all alone
And, I don’t know what to do
But, you’re the one who sent me here
So, I’ll do what you tell me to
Then the lost all came, and a friend betrayed
They were cold and blind in the eyes
He climbed up on a tree for us so we
Can meet with him up in the skies
Just a boy living out in the cold
In a barn with a floor made of sod
Left in this still menagerie
The son of the true living God
There he lay his quiet head
To his mother and father’s delight
The world was changed with this holy birth
Upon this holy night
And Jesus said
I know you’re not just my precious child
And, I’ve come to set you all free
I’ve built a place for you to stay
And, I’m taking you home there with me
Jesus, I love you
Jesus, you’re my king
Jesus, I love you
To me, you’re everything
