The rod and reel aspect of the pen is very compact. When you want to fish, you simply extend the telescope, which is a composite rod, and attach the reel to it. The reel is included, but there is no place on or in the pen for reel storage.

Cons: Obviously the pen could not hold enough line for any deeper water fishing. The line isn’t very strong either, so you can’t catch heavier fish. There is no indication that the ink in the pen could be refilled. It may be better for the fisherman in your life to use the pen for writing, and save the fishing for a real rod and reel.
